Smoking vs Vaping

The effects of Smoking
Smoking harms nearly every organ in your body. They cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia and lung cancer. There are over 7,000 chemicals in a cigarette. The tar in cigarettes is carcinogenic (cancer-causing) and the nicotine in cigarettes is a highly addictive substance which means that smokers find it very hard to quit smoking.

- Cigarette smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals.
- The life of smokers is 10 years less than a nonsmoker.
- Over 480,000 people die from smoking every year.

The effects of Vaping
A vape is also known as an e-cigarette and a Juul. They usually contain nicotine, chemicals and flavourings. Nicotines are highly addictive and it can affect your brain development such as concentrating and learning. It can also irritate your lungs and may lead to death. Although vaping is less harmful than smoking, it is still not safe.

- One vape contains 20 cigarettes worth of nicotine
- Vaping doesn't produce smoke but vapour
- The 'e' in e-cigarette stands for 'electronic
