In Social Studies, we were learning about Migration. The task was to create a presentation explaining what Migration is and to also add what Push and Pull Factors means.
 

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter 19

1. What makes Ellie think the soldiers walking past them are professionals?

- Because they were very observant and well-trained. They do things in an efficient way.

2. What do the soldiers fire at in the bushes?

- They shot a rabbit because they thought it was a person.

3. What are some clues that the group is starting to think ‘more like soldiers’?

- They think strategically before they do things.

4. Do you think Homer’s plan will work? What problems do you think they might encounter?

- Yes, I think so. But it might be hard for the cattle to follow and listen to their orders. The soldiers can also be a problem since they might not care about the cattle and will focus on patrolling instead.

5. What does Homer suggest they do when the group goes up to the Heron?

- Homer suggested to blow up the bridge.

6. What are his strategies to put his plan into action?

- He plans to use the cattle as a distraction for the soldiers. Then they will blow up the fuel tanker under the bridge and use the motorbikes to get away.

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter 18

1. What does Ellie find primarily attractive about Lee? 
- His mind, intelligent, sensitive face and the security that she felt with him.

2. Who is she attracted to physically?

- It was Homer whom she'd felt more physically attracted to.

3. What are the group’s options according to Homer?
- Homer gave them three options to choose from

First Option: Sit and do nothing.

Second Option: To have a go at getting their families back

Third Option: Do something to help the good guys

3. What do they decide to do and why?

- At this point, they have decided to investigate the Cobbler's Bay where the invaders are.

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter 17

1. Why does Ellie feel uncomfortable with Chris bringing cigarettes and alcohol into Hell?

- Because it wasn't as essential as the other things they'd knocked off. They don't also have time to use it.

2. What is meant by a “clean war”? Why are the invaders so intent on having a ‘clean war’?

- A "clean war" is when there are less killing and violence involved.

3. What happened to the soldiers involved in the lawnmower incident, according to Robyn? How does this make Ellie feel?

- Two of the soldier died because of the incident and one is injured. This made Ellie feel guilty and anxious.

4. Why do you think prisoners are sent to clean up the houses around town?

- They are sent around to get food supplies to support the life of the people in the showground. They also took things such as jewellery and valuables.

5. What does Kevin want to bring into Hell by way of livestock? Do you think his idea is a good one? Why/why not

- Ferrets. I don't think so because they are uncontrollable animals.

Tomorrow When The War Began: Chapter 16

1. What is the Hermit’s mother in law’s attitude toward him as seen in her letter?

- She doesn't think Hermit is capable of doing something like that. She'll stand by his side and he is always welcome under her roof.

2. What does this suggest about the way in which the Hermit’s family actually died?

- I think he was either framed or what he said in his testimony was true.

3. What makes Ellie change her mind about Lee on the way back from the Hermit’s hut?

- She doesn't want to end up 'like a coroner's report' so she showed her feelings for Lee.

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter 15

1. What do Ellie and Lee find in the Hermit’s hut that the others don’t know about? 
- They found a box that contains court papers, photos, letters and a notebook as well as a bronze medal.

2.  According to the coroner’s report, what are the two possible ways the Hermit’s family died...
- The first possibility is that they were caught in a fire and Hermit shot them in the head because he couldn't bear watching them suffer. This is was Hermit claimed in his Testimony. The other possibility is he shot them and burned their body to get rid off any evidence that will be used against him. The medical science cannot say as to which came first, the bullets or the burning. Therefore, they are unable to find which met their deceased.

3. Which do you believe? Why?
- The first possibility. This is because it might've been hard for him to look for help and to find a way to save them. He was also a given a medal for being a hero so it wouldn't make sense if he killed own his family. However, If Hermit really killed them, I think he wouldn't keep the documents and evidence about the tragedy because murderers don't keep documentation of their victims. 

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter 14

1. What reasons does Ellie give Lee for not wanting a relationship with him?

- She is still confused about her feelings.

2. What do you think are the real reasons?

- I think she still has feelings for Homer. I also think she's not ready for a relationship due to the situation.

My Migration Story

In Social Studies, I have been learning about Migration. One of the tasks was to create a map of the places I have lived in.

Quezon City → Christchurch → Hornby
I grew up in Quezon City where I was born. But we moved to Christchurch because my parents wanted to move here. We also moved a few times around the Hornby area.
